Hi there! I’m Jen from Tatertots and Jello! I am so excited for our #Crafterminds Twitter Chat tomorrow. I love the idea of craft bloggers networking together and sharing tips and ideas!!
I have been been blogging for about 2 1/2 years and over that time I have made a million mistakes and learned so much! I’d love to share my top 10 tips with you!
Make a plan. What are your goals? What do you hope to accomplish?
Know how much time this is going to take. Craft blogging is really wonderful but it takes time to think up the projects, make them, take the pictures, edit the pictures and write up the posts. Figure out a schedule of how much time you are going to put into the blog and make sure you leave time for your family and yourself. Otherwise it is very easy to burn out.
Take great pictures. Learn how to use an editing program like Picnik or Photoshop. Your projects will look so much better and people will notice all the work you put into your project.
Join in parties so people will see your projects.
Get to know other bloggers. Leave sincere, thoughtful comments. Develop friendships with other bloggers.
Develop a community. Get to know your readers. What do they like? Find content that they will appreciate.
Don’t be competitive. Feature other blogs. Promote bloggers. Your readers are going to be reading other blogs too and it’s ok. There is enough space in this bloggy world for everyone.
Keep it real. Let your readers find out who you are. You have bad days. You have craft fails. It’s ok to admit that and show people your dirty house. People will like you more for it.
Be consistent, no matter how often you are posting.
Team up with other bloggers for projects and parties. It’s fun and it’s a great way to network and meet other creative people.
