Adding Personality to Your Blog
Your blog doesn’t have to be all business all the time. Don’t be afraid to inject personality into your posts. One way to do this is to include people (or furry people) you love into your posts, either with anecdotes, photos, or allowing them to show up in your tutorial photos (I do this a lot because I usually have to take process photos with my toddler and preschoolers underfoot).
If you don’t have kids or dogs, allow yourself to show up in photos sometimes, or maybe post about a craft mistake you made (aka CraftFail – submit your fails to my other site!)
Here are some suggestions for adding personality to your blog from one of our #crafterminds Twitter chats:
Blogging with Kids & Dogs
eCelebrating: Innovation, DIY with repurposed goods, great process photos draw me back.
AFOMFT: Originality, personality & great step-by-step DIYs
hiyaluv: personality draws me to a craft blog! and clear instructions. otherwise i lose interest
dollarcraft: GREAT idea! RT @condoblues: Got a recent comment a reader is a fan of my dog. I plan to put him in more project posts 🙂
madiganmade: Every blog needs a dog (or kid pic)
hiyaluv: oh i am all over the dog or kiddo pics! good one:)
dollarcraft: @condoblues listening to what your readers want/ask for is a GREAT idea
modpodgerocks: @condoblues I talk about my dogs ALL the time. I worry too much 😀
condoblues: @madiganmade @dollarcraft Dog likes to walk into my project shots. I use those as him giving a safey tip, etc.
dollarcraft: Don’t worry if you don’t have a dog or a kid! just rock what you got! (no dog, kid = more time to get it right! ha ha!)
